Mr. Boitson, with more than 25 years in aerospace manufacturing, will provide a market overview of the aerospace industry and the local Manitoba aerospace manufacturing capabilities. Don Boitson
D.J. (Don) Boitson is the Vice President and General Manager of Magellan Aerospace, Winnipeg, an operating division of Magellan Aerospace Limited.
Don joined Magellan (formerly Bristol Aerospace Limited) in 1988 in Commercial Products Marketing. Don’s responsibilities expanded to include business development, domestic, and international marketing for several product areas and he was appointed Group Leader, Marketing in September 1997. Soon afterwards, Don assumed additional program Management responsibilities and in July 2000 he was named Director of Aeroengines, encompassing operations, manufacturing engineering, customer and business relations.
In March 2003 Don was appointed General Manager, Aerospace involving all aspects of Aeroengines and Aerostructures business activities – development, manufacture and procurement. On January 22, 2008 he was promoted to Vice President and General Manager. August 18, 2010 he assumed the responsibility for the development and implementation of the Magellan Corporate Aeroengine Strategy.
Don is a Professional Engineer and member of the A.P.E.G.M., having graduated from theUniversityofManitobain 1985 with a B. Sc. inEng.(Mech). He lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba with his wife Andrea and three children. He enjoys participating in many sporting and outdoor activities.
Outside of work, Don is active in various community and professional activities. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the World Trade Center, Winnipeg, the Composites Innovation Centre, and the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. Don is also the Past President and member of the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Aerospace Association.
