KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Marcus Ewert-Johns

Marcus is the Divisional VP for CME British Columbia. He is responsible for leading the team to advocate for and improve the competitiveness of manufacturers and exporters in the province. through advocacy, training and business development.

Marcus joined CME in May 2013. From 2007 to 2013, Marcus was the Executive Director, International Relations and Business Development for British Columbia’s provincial economic development and trade ministry. In this role he established and led the province’s international investment, marketing and export development programs including the opening of a dozen BC Trade and Investment Offices in key markets in Asia, Europe and the United States. He also led a number of Premier and Ministerial trade missions to Asia. In the lead up to the 2010 Winter Games Marcus also served as the Acting Assistant Deputy Minister for the new International Trade and Investment Division. Prior to the provincial government, Marcus spent a decade as a Trade Commissioner with Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade serving in a number of roles on business development and organizational transformation.

Marcus was posted to Canada’s Embassy in Seoul, Korea from 2000 to 2003 as the Deputy Head of Section and Senior Trade Commissioner responsible for Science, Technology and Investment. He also managed Canada’s Consulate and Trade Office in Busan. Previously he served as a Trade Commissioner at the Consulate-General in Sydney, Australia to support Canada’s participation in the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Before entering public service, Marcus worked in the private sector as an Account Executive for Proctor & Gamble and at AT&T Solutions analyzing and improving product launches across North America.
